GRAND PRIX OF HOUSTON: RACE ONE REPORT

Shelby Blackstock, No. 28 Starstruck

    * Began Race One from the 10th grid position

    * Endured through the heavy rain (and spray) for his fifth top-five finish this year in P5

"Race One started out pretty rough for us... we started 10th. The start of the race went fine, and right after that it started to downpour, which, I was a big fan of! We needed some help right then, and once the rain came, we pitted a lap later. We drove through the field, and I think we were back in 10th, and managed to come home in fifth. Today's race was a lot of fun; I hope it downpours again tomorrow. Today definitely had some chaotic racing, and it was a lot of fun in the wet. Can't wait for Race Two!"

Garett Grist, No. 27 Lander Property Management/DaVinci Foods

    * Started today's race from the pole position

    * Came to the checkered flag in sixth place - the rookie's fourth (consecutive) top-six finish

"Well I started today's race on pole, and the car felt bogged down (after the start) which is weird because it never happened on any of our practice (standing) starts. We'll go back and look at the data to see what I did wrong or see if something happened. On the first lap, we fell back to third and then it just started to downpour. Everyone was on slicks, so it was pretty crazy for a few laps. The Lander Property Management/DaVinci Foods crew pitted us before a few of the other guys which jumped us back up a few spots. I was having some trouble here and there making adjustments, but tomorrow we start on pole (unofficial) again, so I'm looking forward to using what I learned today and applying it for Race Two."
