Watkins Glen, N.Y. – As the 2017 Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires season comes to a close, Bobby Eberle can look back on a great first season in the Championship class. The final race weekend, held at Watkins Glen International in upstate New York, saw cold and tricky conditions during the three-day event.

The Texan racer qualified 11th for Race One of the weekend but made a great effort during the 30-minute contest to move up to seventh across the finish line. He qualified ninth for the final race of the season, a position he would hold for the entirety of the 40-minute race. The ninth-place finish marked Eberle’s 10th top-ten finish this season.

The consistent weekend also cemented the 49-year old’s seventh place finish in the driver’s championship. At the season ending banquet, Eberle was the recipient of the Hi-Tide Boat Lifts Kids on Track Spirit Award for being the driver that best represents a sporting spirit and sets a great example for fellow competitors.

“I was really happy with Race One,” noted Eberle. “We finished seventh and were competitive with guys who were running in the top five all year long. We could have had our first top five of the year if it hadn’t been for the tire issue earlier in the race. I came away with a lot of confidence, and unfortunately, in Race Two, we didn’t back it up in the rain. The track is challenging even in the dry, so adding the rain made it very difficult. We started to adapt near the end of the second race, but it was just a little too late to really be competitive. It was a tough way to end, but we had a solid weekend and a great season overall.”

“This has by far been my favorite season so far,” added Eberle. “We accomplished our goals and had a great time.  I’d like to thank my coach Charles Crews, my engineer Bud Wilkinson, and Tamara Hanson for their great help.  The entire World Speed Motorsports team was on their game, and thanks go out to Telo, Kevin, Skylar, Scott, Henry, and all the guys.  I thoroughly enjoyed representing TITLE Boxing Club this season, and I hope the partnership grows in the future.  Thanks to everyone that made 2017 such a memorable season, I can’t wait to get ready for 2018.”
