HAVOC Motorsport also set for return to professional racing

JOLIET, IL -- After a successful 2013 SCCA SafeRacer National Racing Series season, culminating with a runner-up finish in the Formula Mazda race at the 50th SCCA National Championship Runoffs® at Road America, Crestwood, IL racer Brian Lift will make his professional racing debut in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, one of the steps in the INDYCAR Mazda Road to Indy development system.  Lift will join Pro Mazda at the next round in the series, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, August 1-3, where the series will support the Verizon IndyCar Series in a doubleheader weekend.

“I just want to compete, that’s why I want to be there,” Lift said about his upcoming race at Mid-Ohio. “I’ve watched every single race and have gone through the field to prepare myself for the event. I’m just more worried about myself, and what I can do to get to the front.  I’m not nervous going into the weekend, just more excited. I’m never really nervous for a race, just really happy when I strap into the car.”

Prepping the car will be HAVOC Motorsport, a team that is no stranger to success, having fielded Lift’s runner-up finish in last year’s Runoffs, as well as multiple championships among several different series.  “We’re excited to return to professional racing, and looking forward to taking Brian to the front,” team owner Jody Lift said.

Supporting Brian this weekend will be three Chicago based companies.  The Scion Group which is North America’s leading firm in providing advisory, program management and operational services for student housing; Bleeding Edge Networks, a new, high-energy next generation internet marketing firm that uses technologies created by John Galt Labs; and Quick Dream Motorsports, a new motorsports company built on the foundation to give drivers new opportunities in the competitive world of motorsports.

Chris Surdenik, owner of Quick Dream, said of Lift, “We’re really excited to support a driver who we feel has the real potential to win.  I’ve watched him develop as a racer, and with him also being able to work on the car, that is what can set him apart from the rest of the field.  With that, he’ll be able to come back to the crew and exactly pinpoint what is wrong with the car.”

The weekend kicks off with testing on July 31st, and all events can be followed online at promazdachampionship.com.
